Coach Ryan Berryman inducted into the Indiana Baseball HOF

Ryan Berryman graduated from Western High School in 1994 and Northern Kentucky University in 1998. He pitched professionally for the Lafayette Leopards of the Heartland Independent League.
He began his coaching career at Northwestern High School serving as Varsity Assistant for two seasons before being named Head Coach in 2001. In 11 seasons at the helm, Berryman led the Tigers to a 226-83 record (.731). In 2017, he became coach at his alma-mater, Western, and has amassed a 179-43 record (.806). Overall, Coach Berryman has a 405-126 record, which is currently the 4th best winning percentage (.763) in Indiana. In 2019, he was inducted into the Northwestern HS Hall of Fame.
Berryman has been named District Coach of the Year 7 times, led his teams to (12) 20-win seasons, 8 Sectional titles, 4 Conference, 2 Regionals, 1 Semi-State, and finished as State Runner-Up in 2005. His teams have been ranked in 19 of 20 seasons and have never had a losing record.
Coach Berryman has had 54 players play college baseball, 38 selected to All-State teams, 23 earn Academic All- State, 17 selected to the North All-Star team, 6 voted District Player of the Year, and 1 chosen as Indiana Rookie of the Year. His 2007 team holds state records for hits in a season (408) and doubles (102) while his 2008 squad has the state record for batting average (.431). Former player, Jimmy Corcoran, holds the state record for consecutive base hits (16).
Ryan has been elected twice as the IHSBCA President (2008-09 & 2023-24) and served in various IHSBCA roles: Board of Directors, District Representative, North All-Star Chairman, All-State Committee, Future’s Games Committee, 3A Poll Panel, and the Competition Committee. He was the Head Coach of the North All-Star team in 2011, an assistant in 2005, helped select and coach the Junior All-Star team from 2005-12, and served as an Associate Scout with the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees for 24 years. He is in his 14th season as a Head Coach with the Indiana Bulls and sits on their Board of Directors.
Coach Berryman is in his 28th year as an educator and currently teaches 8th grade American History at Western Middle School. He resides in Kokomo with his wife Amanda, and children Rhett (22), Avery (20), Cal (17) and Olivia (17).
